John 15:14 – “You are my friends if you do what I command.”

Leader: Hi, boys and girls! I have a question for you.  Would you like to be my friend?  You would??  Really??  That makes me so excited!  Ok, now that we’re friends, here’s what’s going to happen.  I have a picture of myself right here, and I’m going to leave it with you.  Then I’m going to leave, and we’re going to be friends!  Right?

No?  That’s not how relationships work? What do you like to do with your friends? Talk with them? Play with them? Spend time with them? That’s right!  Relationships mean being with one another and getting to know one another!

A relationship or friendship with God

Did you know that God wants a relationship with each one of us?  He has given us the Bible, and that gives us a great picture of who God is. But he desperately wants to spend time with us, too!  He wants us to talk to Him, and get to know Him personally!  What a great gift God has given to us!
Let’s pray and thank God for the gift of a relationship with Him:
God, thank you for being our friend, and for wanting to spend time with us. We are so thankful that you are our God, and you are with us all the time. Be with us today, and tomorrow, and our whole lives. Amen.
