Children’s Sermon The Face of God

Children’s Sermon Genesis 1:27 The Face of God

Materials:  You will need a camera with a view screen or an iPad to teach this lesson.

Instructions: Ask the children to stand up and look at the people in the church and see if they see God.

  1. Tell them to look closely – as you think God just may be in the church today.
  2. Take pictures of several people in the church and show the pictures to the children. Ask them if they see God in any of the pictures? Look again at the pictures and tell the children that you do. (We had great fun with this in our church as many of the children looked at the picture of the pastor and said he was God.)
  3. Tell the children that in Genesis 1:27, the first book of the Bible, we are told that God made all of us in his own image. That means that there is a bit of God in all of us. When we look at each other we can see a bit of God in all of us.
  4. Have the children to group together and take a picture of them. Then show the picture to them and say that you see a bit of God in you, and you, and you, and you, etc.

Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for putting a bit of you, in me. Amen
