Holiday Children’s Sermon – Back to School with Jesus

Objective: This Children’s Sermon will teach children how to take the love of Jesus to school with them. This love can be shared with other students as they show Christian values and share the testimony of Jesus Christ with their classmates as they go Back to School With Jesus.

Back to School With Jesus – Lesson Outline

Have the children come to the front of the church.

Ask them what makes them most excited about going back to school.

Some answers might be ‘friends’ or ‘fun.’

Respond by saying, “All these things make going back to school really awesome, but do you know what the best part is? We can go back to school with Jesus!”

School is a great place to share the love of Jesus with everyone. Some people may never have heard of Jesus, and that makes Him sad. But if we tell our friends all about Him, we will please God.

In Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Ask the children, “Isn’t it great that Jesus wants you and your friends to join Him in heaven one day?”

Their answers should be yes.

Some people don’t like school because they’d rather have fun than learn.

But God wants us to learn so that we can understand his plan for us and live it the best we can.

Going back to school also means that you get to meet some new people. Some of them may feel alone and need a friend; Jesus wants us to love those people and cheer them up when they’re sad.

Ask, “Have you ever been looked down on because you’re a kid?”

You will get mixed answers.

1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

So even though you are young, if you set a good example for those around you, one day they may grow up to be wonderful Christians.

And don’t let bad people bring you down, either. There will be people who try to get you to do the wrong thing, but God wants us to stay strong and show his love in everything we say and do.

So don’t worry about going back to school. It is a great chance to make new friends, tell others about Jesus, learn new things, and set a good example.

Are you ready to go Back to School with Jesus?

Let’s pray and ask God to fill us with his love so we can go back to school with Jesus.

Dear God, thank you for all the good things that come from going back to school. Fill us with you your love for everyone. Please help us to be good examples and be unafraid to tell others all about you.
