Holiday Children’s Sermons: MLK Day

Have the boys and girls to come to the front of the church.

Ask two or three of the children to close their eyes tight and hold their hand out. Then ask the rest of the children to watch very closely.

Place two or three M & M’s in the hands of the children with their hands closed. Make sure they are different colors. Have the children eat them one at a time, then ask them if any of the candies tasted any different from the other. Hopefully, the answer will be no.

Then tell the children that all the candies were a different color. Include the children who were watching by asking them to confirm the candies were a different color.

Then have the children look at the congregation and notice that no person looks alike. Tell the children that God made us all different on the outside but the same on the inside.

We are all God’s children. We must be careful to not make fun of how others look on the outside as they have feelings like us on the inside. Just like M & M’s, different on the outside but the same on the inside.

Sing – Jesus Loves the Little Children – All the Children in the World (and be sure to emphasize) Red and yellow, black and white, They are precious in His sight!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Please help me remember that we are all God’s children. Amen
