Holiday Children’s Sermon: Christmas Star

Christmas Star and Angels is a Lesson for Ages 4 and above.

For this lesson, you will need to bring some ornaments from your Christmas tree and a star from the top.

Ask the children what type of ornaments are on their tree.

You will get many answers, all of which are ok.

Now show the children some of your special ornaments and tell special stories that go along with them.

For instance, on our tree, there are ornaments that were our grandparents and very special ornaments that our daughter made when she was a little girl.

Tell the children that on their trees at home, there are some ornaments that are very special to their family.

One very special ornament on most Christmas trees is a star at the top.

Many of the stars have an angel attached to them. The star reminds us of the birth of the Christ child and the wise men what were led to the baby Jesus by the bright star.

The angel gives us comfort in knowing that God watches over us just like he did the baby Jesus.

God has also given us special guardian angels to watch over us. So, during this Christmas season, as we look at our beautiful Christmas trees, let us not forget the Christ child’s birthday of which we celebrate during this season and also the gift of guardian angels.

Matthew 2.9-10 And so they left, and on their way, they saw the same star they had seen in the East. When they saw it, how happy they were, what joy was theirs!

Luke 2.13-14 Suddenly a great army of heaven’s angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!”

PRAYER:

Dear God, Let me not leave the Christ child out of my Christmas. Amen
