Scripture:  Hebrews 11:6: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Have the children come to the front of the church.

Ask them the following questions: The answers to these questions are, for the most part, “mom and dad”. The answer to the other question will hopefully be “I don’t know” or “because”.

If you are in your room alone at night and get scared who do you call for? How do you know they will come?

If you are at home who will make sure you do not go hungry? How do you know this?

If you feel bad who will nurse you back to health? How do you know this?

If you are hungry who will feed you? How do you know this?

Tell the children that the part of them that knows their mom and dad will take care of them is called faith. You know that your mom and dad love you and will see that you are not harmed, do not go hungry and that you stay healthy. This is by faith through your love for your parents and their love for you.

Now, let the children know that we must trust God the Father with the same faith that we trust our parents. We must always believe that God and Jesus will be there for us. Faith is that belief. If we have faith God will never let us down.

Prayer:

Dear God, Help us have the faith to trust that You will never let us down. Help us to call faithfully on You through prayer. Amen
