Scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
- Any battery or electricity powered item
- A visual (photo or video) of solar powered things, places, etc. (like a mill…etc)
- A visual (photo or video) of the sun
Hello boys and girls! Today, we’ll be talking about POWER or energy. Is it necessary or important? What does it do? Who or what needs power/energy? Where and when do we need power/energy? (Encourage group feedback from any of these questions.)
Next, point out your battery or electricity powered object and illustrate how it can only work when it is connected to a power outlet or battery. Next, talk a little about solar power and some solar powered objects.
Isn’t it amazing how the human mind is capable of inventing and discovering the use of electricity and batteries? And isn’t it amazing how God has created the big sun to be a constant source of power and energy for His creation and even manmade objects?
Christ is Our Source
There is also another amazing thing which the Bible talks about- a very important source of power or energy. In Philippians 4:13, we learn that Christ is our source of power/energy. God’s children can do things through Christ because He strengthens each one of them. This means that you can get through this school year with His help. You don’t need to do everything on your own. You can complete that project and pass that test. This means you can handle a difficult situation like friend or family problems. This means you can say no and avoid doing wrong with Christ’s help. Surely you need to study and work hard. Sure, you need to be patient and humble. However, Scriptures say that when you do your best, when you do right, and when you ask God and depend on Christ for power and enablement, good results will come. You may not pass every test each time nor get the highest scores. You may not solve problems every time. But through it all, you will find the power to stay in school and complete your project requirements. You will find the strength to keep doing right and behaving right even when it’s hard. As long as you stay dependent on Christ and ask Him for guidance and strength, you will stay on the right track and accomplish things for His pleasure, and yours too!
So children, when things aren’t going as planned, when life is hard, don’t be too sad and don’t give up. Know that the hard times will pass. Good days are in store. And know that you can make it, you can do it. Just keep asking God for help. Stay positive. And, let Christ’s strength see you through it all.
