To begin have the children come to the front of the church. Have a key in your hand and show it to each child stating what you have.

After showing the key let the children look it over as much and as close as they like. Ask the children – What do you think this key opens?

After all the children guess, tell them what it opens. A picture of the key opening its match will be a nice touch.

Show the children a bible. Tell them that the bible contains the key to us living a Christian life and brings us closer to God and Jesus.

The more you read and study the bible or, have you parents read from His word, the more you will learn the key to life.

All of us have the key to unlocking the Bible, our two hands. Once it is unlocked, and open, we discover that God’s word, and his Son Jesus, are the key to life. Let each child practice opening the Bible with their key (hands).

Dear God, Help me to listen to the words contained in the bible to discover the key to life. All I have to do is open His book and read. Amen
