TOPIC – Jesus is my provider

[Aim to make the lesson as interactive as possible]
Matthew 6:26 – Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Leader: (Energetic) Hi boys and girls! How are you doing today? That good? That’s awesome! I have a question that I want to ask all of you, listen carefully; have you ever seen little birds collecting food and keeping it for later – like squirrels do? No? That’s right! Birds don’t scavage for food, nor do they sow or reap. Now, where do you think they find all that food to keep their tummies so full? That is absolutely right, all their food comes from Jesus, because He is their provider. Jesus always makes sure their tummies are full before they go to sleep at night.
These little birds never worry about where they will find food to eat, they just go and eat whenever they are hungry. The bible teaches us in Matthew 6:26 that we do not have to worry about where we will find food, or anything that we need, because we are more important than these little birds and look how beautifully Jesus takes care of them. This means that Jesus loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to worry at all! He wants us to know that He is our provider.
Did you know that Jesus doesn’t want us to worry or be scared? He wants us to know that no matter what we need, He will always be there to help us. Matthew 6:26 teaches us to look at the birds, and when we look at them, to always remember that we are never alone and that we are always on Jesus’s mind. He loves us so much that He cares about what we eat and what we need. Isn’t that just wonderful? [Encourage children to take part in a discussion about how God takes care of them and how He is their provider]
- Ask the children what they understood about the lesson and what their favorite part was.
Let the children take hands and stand in a circle and repeat the phrase “Jesus is my provider.”
[It is important to be energetic and encourage the children to be exited about the fact that Jesus provides for them in all kinds of ways.]
